EXAMPLE #1:
An
aspiring author is writing a novel. He is able to write at a
rate of 2-3 pages
per day for an average of 20 pages per week.
He submits these pages weekly to Takingdictation.com for general
proofreading at $25 per hour. It takes
Thibodeaux an average of two hours per week to complete the project, so he is
charged
$50 weekly for services. Total cost for
the year thus would be $2,600. Once the
discount is applied, the cost would be $2,210 ($50 * .85 * 52 =
$2,210). He has saved $390 through the discount.
Subtracting the $100 cost of the annual membership fee from this
savings, his
adjusted discount equals $290. EXAMPLE #2: The Best Marketing, Inc. commissions Thibodeaux in January through Takingdictation.com to write the material for their new website. The business is not relatively well known but is growing in popularity due to aggressive advertising. Thibodeaux thus treats the website as a mid-level traffic website and charge a rate of $90 per hour. It takes me 10 hours to write the copy, thus the total cost is $900. After the discount, the cost would be $765 ($900 * .85). The company has saved $135 through the discount. Subtracting the $100 cost of the annual membership fee, the company already has an adjusted savings of $35 through just one commission. In March the company contacts Thibodeaux again to write the text of a letter intended for use in cold-call marketing. They are charged a project fee of $65. With the discount, the cost would be $55.25, a savings of $9.75. During the months of June-November, Thibodeaux does several other projects at $1000, $800, $80, and $75 respectively. Each of these receives the discount for a total savings of $293.25. The adjusted total savings for the year thus is $338.00, more than twice the original cost of the annual membership!
