How to Succeed on Social Media as a Writer

If you’re a writer who wants to use social media to pump up your readership, this video offers general guidance on how to get the most out of your accounts and content.


For the record, I don’t pretend to be some social media master. I’m still trying to figure out how much I want social media in my life at all, and as much as people say you have to use it, it’s still very much a personal choice. You can do other things to market yourself well, just as writers have done for years. If you do want to use it, do your best to find a rhythm of production and posting you can be consistent with.

That said, if there’s an area where I definitely need to improve, it’s engaging with other writers. I spend much of the time I have producing my content, and then the engagement tends to get pushed to the back burner. Over time, I’d like to reverse that.
